SYRACUSE -- Alliance Bank Stadium will transform into a concert venue this summer, as a pair of concerts featuring some of the biggest names in music are in the works.
The “Bob Dylan Show” will come to the ballpark in July. The concert will feature legendary musicial acts Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and John Mellencamp. All three artists will perform during the show.
Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney and the Syracuse Chiefs held a news conference Friday morning to announce details of the show. Despite the buzz surrounding the event, Mahoney says its economic impact is even greater.
“It's a vibrancy that our community hasn't seen” said Mahoney. “Taxpayers participated in building this facility and now they're going to get a return on that investment because we're bringing all these folks to town to buy hotel rooms and to shop in our stores and eat in our restaurants."
Tickets for the July 19 concert will cost $67.50 each. They are scheduled to go on sale at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 9. Click on the link below for more information on how to purchase tickets.
The “Bob Dylan Show” is not the only big act coming to town. The Dave Matthews Band will also perform at Alliance Bank Stadium on August 4. That show was originally announced in February. “DMB”, one of the most prolific touring bands in recent memory, has not performed in Syracuse in ten years.
The Dylan/Nelson/Mellencamp concert will be the first in the stadium since the Allman Brothers played a show in 2000.
