ROCHESTER (AP) -- New York's top court will consider arguments Tuesday on whether a city's youth curfew meant to curb teen slayings and other street violence violates the rights of youngsters.
Rochester imposed the curfew in 2006 after a pregnant 16-year-old and six other youth were slain the year before. Attorneys for the city are urging the Court of Appeals to allow Rochester to keep the ordinance.
The city still is enforcing it for now, although a lower appeals court found the ordinance unconstitutional last October.
A Rochester father and his teenage son challenged the measure, saying it is inconsistent with state laws.
