SYRACUSE -- As students finish up the semester at Syracuse University. reports of the H1N1 "swine flu" continue to emerge around the world and there are suspected cases across Central New York.
The university has mobilized its standing pandemic flu preparedness task force, which was originally created to deal with bird flu. The school now has an informational website as it closely monitors all the latest developments with swine flu, although there are no cases at Syracuse University right now.
Students like Ryan Campbell feel SU is really keeping them in the loop. "They're handling it really well," Campbell says. "Keep us up to date with emails."
According to a spokesperson, the university is in regular contact with the Onondaga County Health Department. The school does have an "Orange Alert" text message system for emergencies. Officials aren't sure if they will need to use it for swine flu.
