SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police have released more details regarding a shooting late Monday night which left two people injured.

Police tell Action News that officers responded to a report of gunshots fired at around 10:25 PM on West Brighton Avenue. When police arrived, witnesses told them they heard gunshots and saw a car leave. A short time later, police were called to University Hospital because two gunshot wound victims had arrived.

The two victims are 19-year-old Riadda Travet of West Castle Street and 24-year-old Dennis Sutton of South Geddes Street. Travet suffered a gunshot wound the the abdomen. Sutton suffered two gunshot wounds to the chest area.

Police say that Travet told an officer that she and Sutton were going to visit a friend, and as they walked toward the back of the building they heard a noise in the bushes. Then shots came from the bushes. Travet was hit, and they ran back to the car. While they were in the car, Sutton was shot through the windshield. Travet pushed him aside and drove to the hospital.
