EAST SYRACUSE -- There may be new life in an attempt to revive the embattled New Process Gear plant in DeWitt. Local 624 union members were notified today of ongoing contract negotiations between union officials and the factory's parent company, Magna International.
Union members voted down a new contract in February due to drastic cuts in wages and health benefits. Magna then announced it would begin winding down operations at the factory. A second vote aimed at keeping the factory open also failed to pass.
Union members Action News spoke with Tuesday say they are still awaiting details of the proposed contract..
We reached out to union officials to find out details of the new contract. Union President Scott Stanton tells Action News the union won't comment until all members are notified.
