ALBANY (AP) -- New York's Republican senators say landmark drug law reforms passed by Democrats in March include a provision that would hide the criminal records of some ex-convicts from potential employers like schools and day care facilities.

Sen. Frank Padavan (PA'-de-van) says he will introduce a bill to eliminate the measure from changes in the Rockefeller-era drug laws. He says it allows courts to seal the records of certain felons if they complete a drug court procedure.

The Queens Republican says a felon could hide as many as four convictions when applying for employment in a day care facility, a school, a nursing home or other jobs requiring criminal background checks.
