PHOENIX -- Phoenix Police officers are warning people about a phone scam. Chief Rod Carr tells Action News, someone has been making phone calls, claiming to be soliciting money for the police department. The caller asks for money to help police purchase what Carr calls a "drug dog."

Chief Carr says the department does not solicit money from the public. Also, he says, there is no plan to purchase a dog.

If you get one of these phone calls, let Phoenix Police know. You can call 695-2001.
