LEWISTION, NY (AP) -- The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission has launched a real-time traffic notification system using Twitter to inform travelers which bridge into Canada has the shortest crossing time.
Subscribers will get updates on computers or cell phones on wait times at the Rainbow and Lewiston-Queenston bridges in western New York. The service comes just in time for two of the busiest travel holidays of the summer, Canada Day and the 4th of July.
Travelers interested in this service need to create a Twitter account. You can register for the service by visiting Niagarafallsbridges.com and clicking on the Twitter logo on the traffic conditions page.
Once an account is set up, type www.Twitter.com/NiagaraBridges in your browser and then click on the "follow" button under the NFBC logo.
If Twittering's not your thing, you can get bridge traffic updates by calling 1-800-715-6722 and pressing 2 for car traffic info.
