GEDDES -- It's Dairy Day at the New York State Fair. There are a number of events to focus attention on one of the state's biggest businesses, dairy farms and dairies. It's also Senior Citizens Day. That means if you are 60 years old or older, you get into the fair for free.
Entertainment at the fair today: At 2:00 at Chevy Court it is the Big Band Swing Show featuring Ronnie Leigh, Nancy Kelly, the CNY Jazz Orchestra and members of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. At 8:00 tonight the Four Tops appear at the Chevy Court stage. There is no act at the grandstand this evening.
At this point state fair attendance is running ahead of last year. Yesterday 94,128 people attended the fair. That's up 27,703 over the same day last year.
Overall, attendance at the fair is up for the first four days is ahead of last year's pace by 15,658.
