GEDDES -- If you are heading to the New York State Fair on Wednesday, it will be a another beautiful day. Meteorologist Peter Hall says today will be sunny and spectacular.
So far it has been a good year attendance-wise for the New York State Fair. As of last night 479,133 people have attended the fair, That is up 78,393 from the same period last year.
Today there is something new at Chevy Court. Instead of a music act on stage in the afternoon, chef Bobby Flay of the food network will put on a culinary demonstration at 1:00 pm. At 8:00 pm, Rick Springfield will perform at Chevy Court. both events are free with your admission to the fair.
At the grandstand, there is also something new tonight. It's "Fight Night at the Fair". A boxing event begins at 7:30 pm, headlined by well-known female fighter Christy Martin.
Also, the Associated Press reports that Senator Charles Schumer will be stopping by the fairgrounds after visiting the grand opening of a new eco-friendly power plant in Ellery and another stop in Watkins Glen. Schumer plans to renew his call for federal assistance for dairy farmers.
