SYRACUSE -- Time Warner Cable's monopoly in the city of Syracuse could be coming to an end. The company's contract expires soon, and Verizon FiOS has a chance to move in.
Every ten years, the agreement between the city of Syracuse and local cable companies goes up for renegotiation. A few dozen neighbors attended a forum Monday evening at the Westcott community center to discuss the current cable contract. Neighbors say no matter who gets the next contract, they'd like to see more public programming.
Steve Susman, of Syracuse, says "Public Access, because we used to run a kids video program here and it used to be easy to get those videos on Public Access Cable."
