LIVERPOOL -- A local store has come up with a unique way to honor veterans.
Diana's Jewelers in Liverpool is giving away St. Christopher Medals to military members and their families. Diana's owner, Betsy Blasland, who pays for the medals out of her own pocket, says it is the least the store can do to show its appreciation to those who serve.
"If someone called me right now and I had to get on a plane and leave my children I don't know that I could physically do it and yet they do it everyday because they want to protect what we have and the world. Its pretty amazing," says Blasland.
Blasland hopes the medals can help provide some small comfort to those who sacrafice so much for their country. "What God put you on the earth for is to give back," she says.
