ONONDAGA COUNTY -- A new agreement could transform the Onondaga Lake area.
A court order in 1998 called for multiple large scale water treatment systems to help clean up pollution at the Lake.
Onondaga County, the Onondaga Nation and the DEC have made an agreement on a green infrastructure system that would do the same work. It includes installing vegetated infiltration basins, roof gardens, tree boxes and pocket wetlands.
Onondaga County will get funding for many of the projects necessary to start the new initiative from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
