DEWITT -- UPDATE- Saturday, December 5- DeWitt Police have released the identity of the man killed while trying to cross Erie Blvd. last night. Police say 73-year old Joel Kidder of Syracuse was hit by a pickup truck near the Delta Sonic Car. Kidder was pronounced dead at Upstate Hospital.
No tickets have been issued and the accident remains under investigation.
Police in DeWitt are investigating a fatal motor vehicle/pedestrian accident. It happened on Erie Blvd, by the Delta Sonic at about 6:45 Friday night.
DeWitt Police tell us the pedestrian appeared to be crossing the road when he was struck by a pickup truck. He died at Upstate Hospital. His name has not been released pending notification of family.
The DeWitt Police Department's Accident Investigation Team was called in. As a result of the investigation the northbound lane of Erie Blvd East is shut down between Kinne Road and Fietta Road. Police expect the road to be closed until after midnight.
