The City of Oneida is looking at ways to drive out the crows that are coming into the city. We first told you about the problem last week. Wednesday night, Mayor Peter Hedglon led a lightly attended meeting where a committee was formed to figure out the best way to move the crows out.
The birds are making a mess and creating odor in areas of the city they flock to at dusk. The birds are drawn to urban areas because of the warmth and light.
Mayor Hedglon says the committee will look at ways to "teach" the crows to roost somewhere else. They're looking at options used in other communities, such as noisemakers or different lighting. Hedglon says activities like these will have to be repeated to work properly.
Don Kingsley has been named as the chair of the volunteer committee.
