SYRACUSE -- While Upstate University Hospital continues to monitor flu activity in the community, it has modified its restricted visitation policy for flu season as follows, effective immediately:

• Visiting hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

• A designated family member/primary support person may remain with a patient overnight, if space allows

• As a guideline, only two visitors may visit a patient at a time

• Children under 17 are not permitted to visit patients

The hospital already has requested that any individual with flu-like symptoms-cough, fever, sore throat, and runny nose-refrain from visiting the hospital until they are well. Everyone in the hospital is encouraged to wash their hands frequently and to use the waterless hand sanitizer located in dispensers throughout the hospital.

Anyone with questions about the visitation policy should contact Upstate Connect at 1-800-464-8668.
