PULASKI, OSWEGO COUNTY -- Vince Bonanno is helping some snow loving snowmobilers take advantage of the miles of trails weaved throughout the area. "I love doing both, That's why I'm involved in it. It's something I enjoy and I like the trails to be smooth," says Vince.
Bonanno and the rest of the Pulaski-Boylston Snowmobile Club are busy readying the area for the season, and with the first snowfall, are busy keeping it clear. Vince says, "This is what we're up against right here. One day and it's hours and hours of work." Pulaski's trails are closed right now because of the windy weather and downed trees, but the club is busy to get them opened back up.
At Caprara's Outdoor Sports, they say the season really picks up when the snow starts to fall. This is the first big snowfall this season, so they've been busy all day. They say it never fails, everyone waits til the last minute. Tim Maitland says, "We live and die with the snow. The snowmobile dealers. Especially where we are, it's a destination area up on the Tug Hill, but people from downstate, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, they all wait as soon as we get snow they head up."
Snowmobiler Shawn Lynch is stopping by to get his snowmobile fine tuned and pick up a few extras before he and his family hit the trails. "One of my sleds was here for what they call a winter wakeup. Make sure its running good and doesn't break down in the middle of Tug Hill. So got that sled done, three more to do at home and we'll be good to go," says Shawn.
But snowmobilers and salesmen alike agree, if you're going to take advantage of the trails, keep it safe.
