Foundation now owns James St. Mansion
The Barnes Hiscock Mansion, on Syracuse's James Street, is about to hold its first open house under ownership by the foundation dedicated to preserving the historic home. After five years of negotiating, the George and Rebecca Barnes Foundation has taken over ownership from the Corinthian Club, and Arlene Stewart says, preservation efforts on the last James Street mansion standing will go ahead in earnest. Part of the plan is to have the house--which figures prominently in several parts of Syracuse history--open to the public more. The mansion is decorated up for the holidays, and for the 'holiday housewarming' on Wednesday (December 16) from 5:30 - 7:30. For tickets (space is limited) call 244-2445.
