CORTLAND (AP) -- A Central New York man is heading to prison for a fatal fight on New Year's Day.
James Adams died after suffering a serious head injury in an early morning fight. The 29-year-old was found lying in the middle of a Cortland street.
Patrick West was found guilty of manslaughter in October. West maintains it was an accident, but prosecutors say he kicked Adams multiple times after Adams fell to the ground.
West was sentenced Tuesday to 21 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision.
