GREECE, NY (AP) -- A Rochester area chapter of a national World War II veterans organization has officially mustered for the last time.
The Genesee Valley Chapter of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge held its final meeting Wednesday, the 65th anniversary of the start of the bloodiest battle ever fought by the U.S. Army.
The Rochester-area chapter's membership has dwindled to about 50 men in their 80s and 90s. The surviving members say they're just too old to run the organization.
Their final official meeting in a suburban Rochester town hall ended with the furling of their chapter flag and the singing of "God Bless America."
The veterans say they'll still gather on Memorial Day and Veterans Day at the Battle of the Bulge monument in Rochester.
