SYRACUSE -- Syracuse police are now releasing the name of a man involved in a three hour standoff with police Saturday. Martin Hillenbrand is charged with criminal possesion of a weapon and illegal possesion of a controlled substance. Police says he had a sawed off shot gun, illegal handgun and heroin inside his residence at 122 Berkshire Avenue. Police responded there Saturday morning after getting information a person there had weapons and threatened to hurt people. The swat team eventually went in and took Hillenbrand into custody.

A man is in police custody after a standoff situation in the City of Syracuse early this morning.
Sgt. Tom Connellan tells Action News that officers attempted to serve a “high risk warrant” at 122 Berkshire Avenue around 7 Saturday morning. Sgt. Connellan says police had information that the suspect had weapons and had threatened to hurt people with those weapons.
The Syracuse Emergency Response (SWAT) and Negotiations Teams were called in. Attempts were made to talk the suspect out of the house, but failed. The SWAT Team entered the house at around 10 am, and took the suspect into custody.
Police are searching the house and so far, have located one weapon. Police have not released the suspect’s name.
