SYRACUSE (AP) -- State police say a Syracuse-area man with 29 driver's license suspensions or revocations led troopers on a short chase on the Thruway because he didn't want to spend Christmas in jail.
Troopers say Justin Boyson of North Syracuse was spotted driving without a seat belt Saturday on westbound Interstate 90 outside Syracuse. When troopers tried to pull him over, he sped off before stopping near the toll booth at Exit 37.
Police say the 32-year-old Boyson told troopers he has a felony aggravated unlicensed operation case pending and didn't want to spend Christmas in jail.
He was charged with a variety of vehicle and traffic offenses as well as drug and weapon possession.
Boyson is being held in jail Monday on $5,000 bail. It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.
