Lots of Sunday morning accidents

Sunday morning's sunshine made it look nice for most of Central New York, but sub-freezing temperatures in shady areas also set up patchy black ice on area roads.  Between 9 and 10am, Onondaga County's 911 fielded dozens of calls for vehicle crashes, most of them minor, but all due to cars skidding off slippery roads. People who left cars outside overnight also had a lot of scraping to do, as last night's rain, and this morning's mist froze on windshields.
With temperatures above freezing by mid-morning, the ice melted---for now.
