GORHAM, NY (AP) -- Authorities say four members of an upstate New York Mennonite family suffered injuries after a car struck their horse-and-buggy on a rural road.

The Ontario County sheriff's office said late Sunday that they didn't know the conditions of the two adults and two girls injured in the accident in Gorham, about 60 miles south of Rochester.

All four were ejected from the carriage.

The sheriff's office said 49-year-old Mable Martin and 14-year-old Judith Martin were airlifted to a nearby hospital following the collision at about 8:30 a.m. Both had head injuries. The two other passengers were transported by ambulance.

The sheriff's office says the car's driver said glare prevented him from seeing the buggy until it was too late.
