LAKE GEORGE (AP) -- People who live on one of New York's most popular tourist destinations are railing against a state plan to ban sun decks from boathouse roofs.
The state's Adirondack Park Agency says the boathouse decks, and certain kinds of docks it also wants to ban, pose environmental risks to Lake George in the Adirondack Mountains.
But a crowd of an angry residents packed a meeting Thursday to protest the proposed ban, saying the rooftop decks are a part of the lake's character and pose no threat to the health of the lake.
The APA will accept comments on the proposal until Jan. 17 and then make a decision.
