CORTLANDVILLE -- A McGraw man was arrested last week after police say he let four ducks starve to death.
Cortland County Sheriff’s Deputies tell Action News that on Monday, January 11 they received a complaint of a possible ‘animal problem’ at a home at 3101 U.S. Route 11 in the Town of Cortlandville. A caller told officers that a resident had six white ducks on the property that he was not properly caring for.
Police say that on January 13 patrol officers investigated the residence and found that four of the six ducks were allowed to die because the owner did not give them enough food, water, or care. They arrested 25-year-old Joey T. Magee of the same address and charged him with overdriving, torturing, and injuring animals and failure to provide proper sustenance, a class A misdemeanor.
Magee was issued an appearance ticket and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Cortlandville Court on February 1 at 1:00 p.m. to answer the charges.
