Snowmobile accident in Oneida County

WATERVILLE -- A Waterville man was injured in a snowmobile accident in Oneida County Friday night.

New York State Police say 43-year-old Richard Rockwell driving a snowmobile on CNY Snow Travelers Trail C7 in Waterville about 5:00 pm Friday. Police say snowmobile went over a mound on the trail and became airborne. The force of the landing ejected Rockwell.

He was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica for a back injury.

Investigators say excessive speed may have contributed to the accident. No tickets have been issued and the accident is still under investigation.
