Special Olympians would each receive one
The Special Olympics winter games are coming to Syracuse next month, with hopes that each of the 450 athletes and coaches will take away a special souvenir: a scarf. Kathy Cardina says it was done for the '09 games in Idaho, and she'd like to see a repeat--so she's calling on volunteers to knit, crochet or otherwise craft a scarf, to present to the athletes at the opening ceremonies.
Here are the details:
45 - 60" long, 4.5 - 6" wide, red with teal fringe or decorations (red and teal are the local colors)
Your choice for design, weight of acrylic yarn, or flannel or polar fleece.
Must be done by February 1st, and dropped off at one of these locations:
AC Moore (Auburn, Clay, DeWitt), JoAnn Fabric (Liverpool, Auburn), Hobby Lobby (Clay), Elbridge Library, First Cup (Marcellus)
or Feminine Touch Fabrics (W. Fayette, Syracuse). Ore email scarves4syr.so@gmail.com for pickup. For more on the Winter Games: www.specialolympicsNY.org
