SYRACUSE -- Students and faculty at the Institute of Technology in Syracuse wanted to help the Haiti earthquake victims. After examining several ideas, they decided to sponsor a bottle and can drive. Today they held that drive in the Institute of Technology’s auto shop garage.
Stephanie Sobon, teacher and organizer of the drive, said it was important to find a fundraiser that would work during these tough economic times. The school is working with the local chapter of the American Red Cross to make sure the money raised is going to where it is needed most. Sobon also says the goal at the Institute of Technology is to do some kind of fund raiser each month to help the people of Haiti.
