NEW YORK (AP) -- Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer laughed as comedian Stephen Colbert playfully mocked him without mentioning the prostitution scandal that led to his resignation.

During an appearance taped for Tuesday night's parody television show "The Colbert Report," the fake pundit feigned indignation at Spitzer for leaving office just as the banking system was collapsing. The former governor played along, agreeing he'd been off taking it easy.

During the show, the former "Sheriff of Wall Street" blasted U.S. bankers, saying they had destroyed the economy and were not doing their jobs because banks were not investing in the U.S. economy.
