LOS ANGELES (AP) -- After months of investigations and a week of trying to surrender, Michael Jackson's doctor appears to be facing a charge in the pop superstar's death.

District attorney's spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons has said only that a charge would be filed Monday in Jackson's death, but Dr. Conrad Murray's lawyers say they are expecting a single count of involuntary manslaughter.

Murray has been the center of a Los Angeles police investigation since the 50-year-old superstar's death in June.

A coroner's report found Jackson's death a homicide and pinpointed the hospital anesthetic propofol and other drugs as the cause.

Murray has acknowledged that he administered the drugs to help Jackson sleep, but maintains nothing he gave Jackson should have killed him.

Murray's lawyers tried last week to arrange his surrender to avoid the spectacle of the doctor in handcuffs.
