That lovey-dovey Valentine's feeling rolls on this February. There is a lot of snow and open terrain to get your heart pounding. No blizzards are in sight, and for that matter, we really haven’t had a storm bring us a big dumping this winter. But the temperatures have been consistently colder than normal for the past several weeks, and we have been getting nickel and dimed with small amounts of snow. This decent ski weather pattern looks to continue for the next week or so. Get out and enjoy!
This week at a ski area near you…. Greek Peak has a new member of their lodge family, Arktos the Bear. Another piece of the pie to the ski resorts year round vacation location dominance here in Central New York. It’s Lab Fest this Saturday at Labrador Mountain. Sure to be a fun day for all, highlights include a pancake breakfast, fireworks at 8pm, and even a race which I will be competing in which I have more on below. And saving the best for last, I spotted a couple of great deals at Song Mountain. They are hosting another Friday Night Freakout on February 19th. All lift tickets are only $6 from 4pm until midnight. Advanced sale tickets for the event are available at The Ski Company in Syracuse. Song Mountain is also offering a free season pass for next winter if you buy a pass for the rest of this winter. It’s like getting two years for the price of one. You would normally expect this type of deal during the last couple of weeks of the ski season, not in middle February. We’ve got many weeks of skiing left this winter; don’t miss out on this deal.
I’d like you to join in and help me “Save The Peaks”. This Saturday, February 20th, Labrador Mountain will be hosting a celebrity ski race that will pit teams from local media outlets. All proceeds from the day will benefit breast cancer research locally with the Carol M. Baldwin Research Fund. Looking to go down against yours truly are personalities from Y94FM, B104.7, News 10 Now and even a couple brave souls from here at CNY Central. Next week I’ll report back on how CNY Central President/CEO Chris Geiger raced, and if it is true that Meteorologist Matt Stevens can make it down a run more difficult than a green circle trail. Until then…Happy trails…
