SYRACUSE -- Almost one hundred neighbors attended the spring meeting of Syracuse neighborhood watch groups. Mayor Stephanie Miner was on hand, along with new police chief Frank Fowler to meet with neighbors.
Many pitched their ideas to the new administration on how to solve crime in the city. Sally Brown says, "Just the quality of life in the neighborhood. I think its very important to be watchful."
Chief Fowler says it's a two-way street. "We've had one homicide this year and that homicide was solved because we had so many witnesses come forward and provide police with info on the suspect," says Fowler.
Chief Fowler says his department relies on watch groups and witnesses to help solve some of the city's violent crimes. He expects to meet with more in the coming months.
