CLAY, ONONDAGA CO. -- A fire forced two people from their home in the Town of Clay early Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported around 3:30 a.m. at a mobile trailer home at 5297 Alperton Court in the Casual Estates Trailer Park.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says 28-year-old Shaun Sanson and 62-year-old Linda Cady both escaped the fire, but Sanson returned to the home to search for pets. He was transported to University Hospital for second degree burns, and at last check was listed in fair condition.

No word yet on what caused the fire. Firefighters say they were able to extinguish the flames in approximately 30 minutes, but had trouble getting inside because of clutter. The home was destroyed.

The Red Cross is offering assistance to the displaced residents.
