Two events aimed at high schoolers & families
High school seniors may be waiting for acceptances, but it's time to start looking at colleges for sophomores and juniors--and their families. There are two college fairs in Syracuse this weekend: primarily Black schools have a display at Syracuse's Corcoran High School on Saturday, 11 - 2, and the National College Fair is at Syracuse's Oncenter on Sunday 1 - 4 and Monday 9 - noon.
Paula Brillo, head of guidance at East Syracuse-Minoa and one of the coordinators, says that 200 schools will have recruiters at the Oncenter, but visitors should do some homework, narrowing down choices by geographic area and generic interest before coming.
She also suggests preparing some questions as 'talking points' and planning to pick up catalogs and business cards for future reference. Both college fairs are free.
