Firefighters ordered out of burning home

MATTYDALE -- A home on Hinsdale Road in Mattydale is badly damaged, after an early Saturday morning house fire.

Firefighters got the call at 4:40am but it took almost an hour and a half to bring the flames under control.  The Hinsdale Fire Chief says the house had been extensively remodeled and added onto, and it was unsafe for volunteers to stay inside to fight the fire.  Four hours later, Chief Ron Bosket says they were still dousing hot spots and moving debris.

Investigators will concentrate on a back corner, where flames apparently originated.

The four people who lived in the home are being assisted by the Red Cross; several pets died in the fire.
