State Police investigate a fatal farm accident

MORAVIA, CAYUGA COUNTY -- UPDATE: Saturday, 4:40 pm- State Police in Auburn have identified the worker killed in a farm accident in the Town of Moravia on Saturday morning.  71-year old Charles Verbeck was inside a corn bin while he and another worker off loaded the corn into a truck. The other worker told police he heard a noise, but could not find Verbeck. Fire rescue crews were called in. They located Verbeck inside the bin at about 11:20 am. Verbeck was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is still under investigation.


State Police out of Auburn are investigating a fatal farm accident. It happened around 10:30 Saturday morning at a farm on Route 38 A in Town of Moravia. State Police say a 71-year old farm worker was off loading corn in a silo when he became trapped. The name of the man has not been released pending notification of family.
