This year's Earth Day spring cleanups are Friday, April 16 and Saturday, April 17. Sarah Stewart, who is coordinating Onondaga County's effort for OCRRA says the signup deadline for groups is April 9th: the benefit of becoming an 'official' team, is stickers for free disposal of refuse collected from highway shoulders, fields or other areas where winter trash accumulates.
All groups are welcome and you can sign up at www.OCRRA.org They are also on facebook this year (Facebook.com 'OCRRA' ) for updates, reminders, and shared stories.
If you don't have a group:
Syracuse's Downtown Committee asks that you, your employees, co-workers, friends and family volunteer a few hours of your time on Saturday, April 17th, to help give downtown Syracuse a spring cleaning. They'll provide the trash bags, gloves, t-shirts and a continental breakfast to get you started. The cleanup will run from 8:30am through 12:30pm and volunteers will start at staggered times. Lunch will be provided to volunteers following the cleanup at a specified location at noon. To sign up, call the Downtown Committee of Syracuse at 422-8284 or email lromeo@downtownsyracuse.com
