BENTON, MONROE CO. -- The Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office tells CNY Central that it has positively identified the body found Easter Sunday in the Town of Benton as that of Marilyn Whitaker of Penn Yan.

The 83-year-old Whitaker had been missing since January 22.  It was reported to Penn Yan police that she suffered from dementia and other health issues.

The medical examination did not reveal any signs of trauma.  Dental records were a positive match as were clothing and jewelry identified by the family.

An investigation continues as to the cause of death which is, as of now, officially undetermined.  According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, “All indications point to a natural cause of death at this point, but the ME will have the final determination”.
