TOWN OF SULLIVAN -- An early morning crash in Madison County has claimed the life of a man and his dog. The Madison County Sheriff’s Department says that the man was driving his pickup truck eastbound on Route 31 in the Town of Sullivan around 1:45 Sunday morning. Deputies say the truck crossed into the westbound lane just past the intersection of Bushnell Shores Road. The truck left the shoulder and struck a tree head on.

Deputies are not releasing the victim’s name until his family is notified. He was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital where he died. A dog riding in the truck was also killed. As a result of the crash, the tree hits some power lines and a transformer cutting power to about 200 residences in the Town of Sullivan area. The crash is still under investigation.
