FULTON -- The former Nestle Chocolate plant in Fulton, is closing...again.
New York Chocolate and Confections is filing for bankruptcy in a Syracuse court. Part of the filing includes an order to wind down operations. The company says a combination of past management and legal challenges forced it to file chapter 11.
New York Chocolate and Confections was backed by Ivory Coast funders when it took over the Fulton factory several years ago and was ‘the great hope’ in Fulton.
The company says it has $2.2 million in debt and owes tens of thousands of dollars to dozens of local groups and businesses, including National Grid, the Fulton City school district and the Fulton Water Department.
