Effects on Great Lakes?

With Asian carp expected to 'invade' the Great Lakes soon, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is calling for a study of the invasive species' impact.  Schumer plans a formal request on Monday to the EPA, the Army Corps of Engineers, the Fish and Wildlife Service and the Coast Guard.  The concern is not only effects on the sport- and commercial fishing industries in the Great Lakes, but also effects on tourism and shipping, as well as costs for government monitoring.  Asian carp could get into Lake Michigan from infested Chicago-area waterways, and spread from there.
