LIVERPOOL -- More than 150 people and 100 dogs stepped out for the second annual Six-Legged 5K Run/Walk at Onondaga Lake Park on Sunday to benefit the CNY SPCA. Participants raised $3,530.00 for the shelter.
This is the second year the race was hosted by Fleet Feet Sports. “We created this event last year when the news broke that the CNY SPCA was in financial trouble,” said Ed Griffin, President of Fleet Feet Sports, Syracuse. “The response was so amazing that we decided we would make this an annual event. We are really happy that so many people came out in support of this cause again this year and that the participants combined to donate so much money.”
The first finishers in the 3.1 mile course were Becky Bader of Syracuse and her Springer Spaniel, Melo. The pair had a time of 21 minutes and 55 seconds.
