SYRACUSE -- Nearly 150 National Grid employees, area residents, and community leaders volunteered their time Friday to help the Lincoln Hill Neighborhood Association restore their local park.
Teams worked together to plant trees, shrubs and flowers at Lincoln Park in Syracuse, in an effort to re-establish the beautiful 360 degree vista view from the very top of the park.
Each year National Grid and the Neighborhood Association get together around the time of Earth Day to help with this project. This year they were joined by Rep Dan Maffei, Mayor Stephanie Miner, and Sen. John DeFrancisco, among other politicians.
“Look at the vista we've created, behind us you can see the university. Last year you couldn't see that when we were here. You can look downtown and see downtown and note that downtown is growing, buildings are going up, buildings are being restored, including ours,” said Susan Crossett, vice president of economic development for National Grid.
National Grid and the Neighborhood Association say they hope to continue improving the park each year by working together.
