GRAY, MAINE -- A Solvay native and graduate of Solvay High School shot his autistic son and then took his own life earlier this week in Gray, Maine.
News reports out of Maine describe Daniel McLatchie as a dedicated full-time caregiver of his 22-year-old son, Benjamin. Daniel left two notes that were found by police. One gave his wife Alison fianancial information. The other expressed concern about his son's future care. Alison was at work when the murder-suicide happened.
In the obituary for Daniel McLatchie his family wrote,"Danny was brilliant, musical and totally devoted to his son Benjamin. Danny's primary concern was always that Benjamin be happy. Benjamin was a sweet and gentle boy."
Services are in Maine tomorrow for the father and son.
