SANDY CREEK -- For this week's "My School" we've headed to Sandy Creek, where the students wanted to tell us about their School-To-Work Program.
The program is unique in its own right, offering students chance to have internships with many prestigious organizations like the Syracuse Symphony and Samaritan Hospital in Watertown, just to name a couple. The program is very flexible. Realizing that most high school seniors aren't 100% sure of what they want for a career, the School-To-Work Program allows students up to three internships. These three internships can be in completely different fields, or three separate organizations in the same field.
Truly, this program is top notch, and sending kids off to college a step ahead of the game. The students who are able to "test drive" their field of interest are less likely to switch majors in college or even go back to school for a completely different field. This program is a sneak preview of the real world, saving families time, money, and most importantly expanding horizons for everyone involved in the Sandy Creek Central School District.
