SYRACUSE (AP) -- Family members of a murdered Syracuse cabbie expressed grief and anger in court before two men were sent to prison for the crime.
Onondaga County Judge William Walsh sentenced 19-year-old Chuckie Phillips to 20 years to life in prison for gunning down Timothy Gordon during a robbery.
Walsh sentenced 24-year-old Eduardo Trinidad-Ayala to 40 years to life. A third defendant, Denny DeJesus, took a plea bargain in January to a weapons charge in exchange for a promised sentence of 15 years in prison.
The victim's sister Sherry, one of 12 siblings, said her 29-year-old brother's "gentle heart and soul" were taken for "absolutely nothing."
Gordon was found shot in the head in his overturned cab in January 2009.
