SYRACUSE -- Legendary rock band Aerosmith is coming to the New York State Fair on August 26th. The Fair made the announcement this morning. Tickets go on sale Saturday, May 29th. Aerosmith is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Some of their hits include: "Dream On", "Sweet Emotion" and "Livin' on the Edge".

Here is the Fair's news release that came out at 4:00 a.m. today.

Aerosmith, the best-selling American rock band of all time, will perform at the grandstand on opening night of the 2010 New York State Fair, kicking off one of the strongest concert series ever held in Upstate New York.

The legendary band, which has more gold and multi-platinum albums than any other American group, will play at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26, the first night of the 12-day New York State Fair. All of the group's original members, including Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, will perform.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 29. They will cost $104, $94 and $84 and will be available at the New York State Fair Box Office and through Ticketmaster. Admission to the Fair is included with the purchase of a grandstand concert ticket on the day of the show. Sales will be limited to eight tickets per person for the first week of ticket sales.

"Aerosmith is widely considered to be the greatest rock band in America, and we are honored that they will be here to help us open what we consider to be the greatest Fair in America," State Fair Director Dan O'Hara said. "This phenomenal group has 21 American Top 40 hits, three generations of fans and a place of honor in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their performance at the Fairgrounds will be a major event that no one will want to miss."

During more than 40 years of high-energy tours and distinctive blues-rock hits, the group has sold 150 million albums worldwide - more than any other American rock band in history. Aerosmith has had 21 songs reach the Top 40 on Billboard Magazine's weekly "Hot 100" chart, including nine that reached No. 1 on the magazine's mainstream rock chart. The band has won four Grammy Awards, 10 MTV Video Music Awards and was ranked among the top 100 greatest artists of all time by "Rolling Stone" magazine. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

Aerosmith's long list of hits includes "Dream On," "Janie's Got a Gun," "Sweet Emotion," "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)," "Angel," "Walk This Way," "Crazy," "Love in an Elevator," "Last Child," "Back in the Saddle," "Cryin'," "What It Takes," "Livin' on the Edge," and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."

Tickets to see the concert will be available at the New York State Fair Box Office on Saturday, May 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Box Office, which charges no service fees, will not be opened again until the next on-sale date. Regular hours will begin in late June. No one will be allowed to line up to buy tickets before 6 a.m. on May 29.

Ticket sales will be cash only at the State Fair Box Office as long as there is a line of customers. Credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, American Express) will be accepted after the line is gone.

Fans can also buy tickets online through Ticketmaster.com or order and pay by phone by calling 1-800-745-3000 or 1-866-448-7849.

Tickets for people with special needs - including those who are hearing impaired, use a wheelchair or have difficulty doing stairs - will go on sale at the same time as general seating tickets. They can be purchased through Ticketmaster or at the New York State Fair Box Office. Only one companion ticket is permitted for each special-needs ticket. Additional tickets, even if they are part of the same party, must be purchased in the regular seating section.

Aerosmith is the fifth announced concert of the seven major shows planned for the 2010 Mohegan Sun Grandstand concert series. Rhythm and blues star Rihanna will sing on Aug. 28; teen pop sensation Justin Bieber and opening acts Sean Kingston and Jessica Jarrell will perform on Aug. 29, country music star Rascal Flatts with supporting acts Kellie Pickler and Chris Young will perform on Sept. 4; and legendary classic rock band Rush will play on Sept. 2.

Tickets for Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Rush and Rascal Flatts are on sale now.

More New York State Fair concerts will be announced as their ticket information is confirmed. The 2010 Fair will run from Aug. 26 to Sept. 6.
