About 500 gallons of diesel fuel spilled from the westbound Amtrak locomotive after Sunday afternoon's accident in Whitestown, just west of Utica.

An Amtrak official says the object came from a CSX Corp. work train on an adjacent track.

Buses transported passengers to the Utica station to await other trains.
