SYRACUSE -- James Street in Syracuse has reopened after an accident closed it during rush hour Tuesday morning.
According to Syracuse Police, officers responded to a car-pedestrian crash at the intersection of James Street at Oak Street at about 7:25 AM. Police say a 2004 Dodge Neon was headed eastbound on James Street and had a green light when a teenage pedestrian ran southbound across James Street into the path of the vehicle.
Police have identified the driver of the Neon as 52-year-old Timothy Challis of Catherine Street in Syracuse. The 15-year-old pedestrian who crossed James Street against the light was transported to Upstate University Hospital for numerous cuts and scrapes, along with an injured left leg. His injuries are not life threatening.
Police say Challis had a suspended license at the time of the incident and was ticketed for third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
